This week we got a good one, as the defending champions, the Corner Canyon Chargers (1-0) take on the Herriman Mustangs (0-1) in some Friday Night Light’s action.
The Chargers are coming off a solid win against Farmington, beating the Phoenix 49-20. Senior QB Jaxon Dart threw 15 passes and completed 14 of them for 230 yards. All that with 3 passing touchdowns, and 77 yards rushing. Herriman will have to keep an eye on this duel-threat quarterback if they want to make it a good game.Not only did Corner Canyon win the 6A Championship last year, they are still the best team in the state, and ranked 21st in the entire nation.
The Mustangs are coming off a loss to the Davis Darts, 24-20. Despite the loss, Herriman is still ranked top 25 in the state, coming in at 21st. Junior QB Jack White thew 3-7 with 88 yards passing, and a single touchdown. However, he rushed for -24 yards.
Herriman’s defense is going to have to be really strong if they want to pull off the major upset on the nationally ranked Chargers. Expect a big game from Jaxon Dart, as his team is hungry for another title.
